Mowing the Grass in the Sun
May 15, 2008 9:08 am sunscreenNow that it’s getting warmer, you have to be careful not to get burned when you’re outside mowing your yard. Depending on the size of your lawn, it can take 30 minute to over an hour to mow the grass each week.
If you’re out there after work, the sun isn’t that hot and you probably won’t burn. But if you’re outside during the middle of the day mowing the grass, then you better be wearing sunscreen. SPF 30 is a good choice, because it blocks out many of the harmful UV rays that damage your skin and can lead to burning or skin cancer.
If you’re using a push mower, mowing in the sun may be hard work. But if you have a zero-turn riding mower or other riding mower it can be pretty fun to mow. Just attach an umbrella (MacGuyver-style) to your mower to provide some shade while you mow and sip on your favorite cold beverage.
